COVID-19 Response in El Salvador

El Salvador has been deeply affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as from the effects of multiple tropical storms which hit the country last year. We have been working to adapt our programs to meet the needs of our community.

Initially we opened a shelter to provide a safe space for the homeless population to “shelter in place” during the strictest phase of El Salvador’s lockdown. We also worked to provide emergency relief, and we have continued to do so for those facing a crisis as the pandemic continues to cause economic strain in El Salvador.

Our Lighthouse Resource Center is open on a modified basis, and we have implemented strict health protocols to protect our staff and clients. If you are interested in partnering with us to serve our community during this time, we need your help!

COVID-19 Information for Volunteers

We understand that COVID-19 has made things complicated around the world! As things open up, and people consider international travel once again we are prepared to receive short-term service teams, vision trips, interns, and volunteers. In order to keep things safe for our volunteers and our clients we are taking the following precautions:

  • COVID-19 protocols enforced in our offices, program facilities, and Guesthouse
  • Modified programs to keep everyone safe
  • Adherence to all travel recommendations and requirements from both the Salvadoran government and all other governments.

Please note: Currently, a negative COVID test or proof of completed vaccination is required for travel into El Salvador.
