Mission To El Salvador was founded in 2009 by Jonathan and Danielle Snyder. That same year, they moved to El Salvador with their children to work with the urban poor. After spending several years learning Spanish and Salvadoran culture, they opened an MTES El Salvador office.
Since then, the organzation has grown to include a residential rehabilitation program for youth, and a full-time resource center for adults. MTES has also expanded to include an internship, service trips, and strategic partnerships with churches and non-profits in El Salvador and around the world.
Jon has a background in IT and Project Management, and he worked at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center before transitioning to El Salvador. He is also a certified addiction therapist in El Salvador. Danielle has a background in church and parachurch ministry, focusing on youth programs, and she is also certified in Anti-Trafficking work.

The majority of our team are Salvadoran professionals who choose to serve their own country and embody the values that bring change to our community. Their wisdom, professional expertise, and leadership have helped Mission To El Salvador to grow deep roots in our community.
Our staff is led by a team of dedicated leaders including both national and missionary staff.

Christopher Alarcón, New Dawn Residential Program Director
We have several missionaries serving full-time in El Salvador who raise their own support to work with us.
Jon and Danielle Snyder are full-time missionaries from the U.S. serving in El Salvador. They have two children, Victoria and Ian. If you would like to partner financially with the Snyders, you can do so by visiting our U.S. donation page and indicating your gift is for the Snyders.
Dennis & Valerie Nikkel spent two years in El Salvador as part of our missionary staff. Currently, they are back in Canada but they continue to form part of our MTES team. Dennis serves as a consultant on all things related to running our organization, and Valerie organizes teams, volunteers, and interns.
