Here are some pictures from our adventure to Usulutan last weekend!
We had to let the cows pass on the road along the way.
Lots of fields and homes were flooded by Tropical Storm Agatha. These girls are fishing in a flooded field.
This church was in a rural area...complete with an outhouse. We slept on the floor in this building and worked on constructing a second building on the property.
Tori helped pass out food to families in need. Gateway church in Jarrettsville, MD helped to fund the food donations.
Jon worked on some roof construction.
We took the truck down a short dirt road to the river so the kids got to ride in the back for the first time ever...they were very excited!
This is the boat we took to go down the river to Montecristo Island to deliver relief food. It was beautiful with lots of birds flying around and volcanos in the distance. We also saw where the river ran right into the ocean and got a chance to walk on the beach.
Riding down the river in a little boat was a highlight for our family!
Ian helped wash dishes. We had to use a hand crank well since there was no indoor plumbing.
One of the wonderful women who cooked for us all weekend. We brought the food and they cooked us some delicious meals. Then as our final meal, the locals caught some crab and shrimp and we had a delicious seafood lunch!
Our kids made friends in Usulutan. Here is Tori with her new friend Beatriz.
The kids enjoyed games, songs, and a puppet show.
In El Salvador, every party has a pinata!
The Night School students had their graduation at the end of the weekend.
We saw this volcano on the way home. I'm so grateful to live in such a beautiful country.
