Discovery in El Salvador!

We are so excited to have the student ministry from our home church, Discovery Christian Church, here with us in El Salvador this week! It’s so encouraging to us to have them here helping us out. It is so great to see our friends from the U.S. too.  Two of the girls here with this group used to babysit our kids and they lived right down the street from us in Cranberry. Seeing them was emotional for all of us and some tears were shed. We are definitely going to be sad when they leave this weekend!

The group’s excitement about helping El Salvador is awesome and they are doing a great job. They got here on Saturday and they spent yesterday and today helping out at CIPI which is a state-run orphanage for younger kids, handicapped kids, and older girls. There are some babies and teen moms there as well. They did a kids’ program and a pizza party yesterday, and today they planted a vegetable garden and had a movie night with the kids. The kids at CIPI were overjoyed to meet the students and leaders from Discovery. The next two days they will be helping in a community that was hit by Tropical Storm Agatha, then they will finish out the week working at another orphange and helping us with our street kid ministry at the YWAM base.

The group is working hard, and everyone is doing their best to communicate in Spanish! They are blogging this week about their time in El Salvador, and you can check that out by visiting http://discoveryinelsalvador.blogspot.com/
