Staff Retreat 2015

We have an amazing team working with us. When we started building our programs, and dreaming about new projects and ministries we prayed that God would bring the right people to our team and He surely has. They all bring unique gifts, talents, and stories to the table and they are fun to work with.

Just before Easter, we had our annual staff retreat.  All of us work in an urban environment everyday and the truth is that it can be exhausting after awhile. A change of scenery is great for everyone, so we packed up beach gear, food, and all of our staff and headed out to Punta Mango in the department of San Miguel. The trip took us about 3 hours but it was worth it to arrive at a beach with spectacular views and lots of peace and quiet.

Last year our staff retreat was really about getting to know one another, and to discuss what MTES is all about. This past year we have seen a ton of growth in our staff and so we focused more on our personal profiles…our personalities, conflict styles, and gifts. It was fun to learn about one another, and about how we can function better as a team. We also had individual reflection times to just take a breather and focus on what we are doing in our programs and ministries.

We came together and shared as a team and we were all reminded of how, just like the ocean, God is big, powerful, and fully able to bring change to San Salvador. He doesn’t need us, but He uses us anyway and that is an incredible privilege. My heart was impressed with the feeling that we are road builders…all of us. Our job is to clear the road, remove the obstacles, and be useful to God in whatever He wants to do. We are truly grateful to have a team that feels the same way working with us, in the trenches, to help prepare the way for God to do amazing things in our city.

This is what your truck looks like when you take your whole staff and their families to a beach house in the middle of nowhere!

  1. YES!….A time for everything….God said that times of refreshing would come. Sending a wave of His Spirit to all of you at MTES….It is for such a time as this that you are called and united to cancel the death contract on the people of a nation “El Salvador” which means “The Savior”…marked to be taken back for the Kingdom of God! Jesus said His people would never thirst….You are a drink offering to thristy souls! You are equipped and empowered to release life, love, and hope to the multitudes who are ripe and ready to receive. The supernatural is being released in this hour! Receive a fresh anointing today! A new anointing is your portion! A new authority is your portion! A new boldness is your portion! You are mantled (spiritually empowered) for the mandate (the authorative command) and the mission (the strategies & tasks)! AMEN!!!

  2. Ephesians 4:15-16 (NIV) 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Romans 12:1-21 (NIV) Romans 12 New International Version (NIV)

    A Living Sacrifice

12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Humble Service in the Body of Christ

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

    Love in Action

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

    “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[e]

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
